Easter Friday! Had to be creative with the Easter Eggs this year. We did buy some three weeks ago and gave them to Brooklyn and Ava before the official Lockdown on the Wednesday - we had already gone into self-isolation that Sunday so done from a distance.  After seeing Toni Street from the telly on Instagram make homemade eggs in a basket I gave it a go. Without 6 cups of cocopops I had to be creative from the get go. So the baskets were half cocopops and half ricies. Fortunately we had a 'spare' packet of marshmallows in the cupboard to melt with butter to complete the nests. Looking in the cupboard I found choc buttons to melt for the centre and saved (before eaten by grandad) 12 marshmallows for the egg in the basket....wollah! One for Zane who came for a walk this afternoon, gloves and mask and all. 10 for BC and Ava, who savoured one each when we dropped them off (put the rest away as Easter treats), The other excitement was our weekly drive to Yaw Milk to get our organic milk.....no-one on the road! Which is good as people need to stay home not head to their holiday homes. I managed a walk around the block through the school, stopping on the footpath to say 'hi' to a couple of friends in their garages/gardens. The day finished with Lee and Al taking the dogs for a walk - stopped in the drive to say 'hello'.

First thing this morning I made four poppies for our fence at the end of the driveway - ready for ANZAC Day tomorrow. Had seen an idea on Facebook using red New World or Warehouse reusable bags. Easy as, and will withstand rain if it comes. I remembered we had a NZ flag which we took to Belgium 5 years ago when we were in Ypres commemorating the 100 years since the Gallipolli landing. Friends Wayne and Sally's daughter had given it to us to take. Pretty special. Kelly had decorated their gate too with 8 poppies - looked great!  Spent most of the day on my laptop or phone working, getting children placed into bubbles for school starting back on Wednesday when we head to Level 3. I'm staying home with most of the staff, just five teachers and Matt and Louise will be there. I'll be busy supporting the distance learning at home. Day 36 * Sunday 26 April 2020

A day late writing this!! Yesterday Robert and Scott went for a road ride, Scott's first one with his Dad on his old bike. Bit of a change from mountain biking for him. We went up to 'see' the grandkids, rewarded with a coffee made on the proper machine, nice change from the packet coffees I am making. Brooklyn and I walked home to our place from there's with Ava scootering there. Stopped to talk to two women painting the concrete blocks next to the community food sharing box at Memorial Park. Kelly arrived not long after, walking pushing Lucy in the buggy, took her only half the time!  Blair Oscar and Bridget FaceTimed us, lovely to see Oscar....up to mischief getting into cupboards and standing up opening the fridge. Kelly cooked dinner, so nice after five weeks of cooking every night. A real treat. Larsen Lodges Quiz Night again. Geoff, Sammy and Rach had put it together. Day 53 * Wednesday 13 May 2020

Last day of lockdown, for 53 days we have been restricted in a way we never have seen before!! As of midnight tonight we are officially in Level 2 which means we can visit friends (go into their houses), have a haircut (Sophie rang today and booked me in for Friday, yay!), go into cafe and have a coffee/food, visit the Plaza and shop (I need a new whisk as managed to break mine 50 days ago), hug Zane, and travel out of our region - we may pop up to Taupo this weekend. Still some restrictions though. Initially the govt. had a 10 person restriction on weddings. tangi and funerals. Within hours today it was changed (under pressure) to up to 50 people. It is all about contact tracing. Hygiene and contact tracing in place in school, we start back on Monday. Children left at the gate, manned by Matt, Louise and I in the morning. There will be a pick up plan each afternoon too so parents don't need to enter school grounds. It's going to be interesting. New Zealand has got off lightly ...
